Or perhaps you just want to look at someone else’s finances??
I don’t blame you! It’s not only intriguing to see how other people track their finances but also, people are naturally curious.
And why wouldn’t people be curious about something so secretive as money.
I began tracking my net wealth in 2021 right as I turned 23. Perfectly timed some might say, right after the “generational wealth building” event that was COVID, and just before the 2022 bear market! You’d think loosing 30% of your money would make you run for the hills, however, my poor timing only made me that much more interested.
Thinking back on that now, I think “man, why did I start so late!” That’s what has happened to my brain over these past years. You go from not saving a cent whilst at university, to putting left over cash into penny stocks, to one day trying to purse an 80% savings rate, putting whatever money you can into index funds.
I used to constantly think what my life – and financial position – would be like if I skipped those ‘destructive’ days of zero savings and penny stock lifestyle. However, I now look on those years as essential building blocks towards my now solid mindset. Those years allowed me to understand the true value behind every dollar, it allowed me to strip away the nonsense and focus on how truely basic it is to obtain a wealth building mindset.
It’s a weird progression that I’ve had with my finances which I’m sure many people may be familiar with.
